Andrew Preston BA, MA, Ph.D.
Dr. Andrew
Preston, a distinguished academic and author, is presently a senior lecturer in
History at Clare College, University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.
Dr.
Preston’s most recent work, Sword of the
Spirit, Shield of Faith: Religion in American War and Diplomacy (2012), was
the winner of the prestigious Charles Taylor Prize for Literary Non-Fiction and
earned second place in the Cundill Prize in History sponsored by the University
of McGill. Dr. Preston is also author of four other books on American History
as well as numerous articles and papers.
Dr. Preston graduated from BCI in 1992 and
during his five years at the school was a member of the football and basketball
teams as well as member of the Reach for the Top team. Following his graduation
from BCI he attended the University of Toronto earning an honours degree in
History, followed by an MA from the London School of Economics and then a Ph.D.
from the University of Cambridge.
Before his current post at Clare College,
Dr. Preston taught History and International Studies at Yale University as well
as schools in Canada and Switzerland. He has also been a fellow at the Cold War
Studies Program at the London School of Economics.
