
Katie Brown
Katie Brown is currently employed as Chef
de Cuisine at PLAY Food & Wine which is her most recent step in a
remarkable career in the hospitality industry.
Ms Brown attended BCI from 1999 to 2003. While
a student she was a member of the basketball, volleyball, rugby and rowing
teams. She also spent time doing photography for the year book as well as
participating in the drama club and The Sears Drama Festival. While at BCI she volunteered
as a Candy Striper at the Brockville General Hospital and as a volunteer with
summer rowing camps.
After graduation from BCI, Ms Brown
graduated on the Dean’s list from the Culinary Management Program at Algonquin
College. In 2008 Ms. Brown was Gold Medal Plate winner in the Canadian Culinary
Championships. In 2010 she was voted as
one of the “Top 30 Under 30” in the hospitality industry in Canada. Ms Brown
has also been featured frequently in area magazines and media for her work in
the hospitality industry.
Ms Brown continues to be invited back to
the Culinary Management program at Algonquin to speak to classes. She also
volunteers at the Youville Centre in Ottawa teaching young single mothers about
healthy, affordable eating and food preparation.
