Dan Noonan was born in Kingston on September 2, 1921. By the late 1920's the family had moved to Brockville where Dan started school. The family attended St. Peter's Anglican Church and Dan was a member of the boy's choir and a scout. In his years at BCI, 1934-1939, he played football, sang in the school choir, and played violin in the school orchestra. Dan went to Queen's University for one year and then in September 1940 enlisted in the RCAF.

After Initial Training School in Regina and Elementary Flying School in Prince Albert, Dan came first in his class at Service Training Flying School in Saskatoon in March 1941. He spent some time instructing in Ontario and Manitoba and in October 1941 was posted overseas. He flew in a number of fighter squadrons on many varied missions. In 1944, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and made a Flight Commander. In 1945, he returned to Canada and completed his degree program at Queen's University. Dan entered the ministry and was ordained a priest in 1951. He served in a number of parishes in Manitoba and British Columbia.

On September 6, 1947, Dan was married to Frances Ault and they adopted Sarah Elizabeth in 1956 and Michael Parker in 1958. After retirement in 1986, he moved to Sidney, B.C.
