The Honourable Grant R. Dow
The Honourable Grant R. Dow is currently a judge of the Superior Court of Justice (Toronto Region), having been appointed in January of 2015.
Grant R. Dow attended Brockville Collegiate Institute from 1971 to 1975. While a student Mr. Dow was a member of the senior basketball and football teams as well as a member of the Brockville Bunnies Baseball team for four years. Upon his graduation from BCI in 1975 Mr. Dow was an Ontario Scholar and received a number of academic prizes and awards.
Following his graduation Mr. Dow went on to achieve a Bachelor of Arts (Distinction) from Brock University and then his Bachelor of Law from the University of Western Ontario in 1981. He was admitted to the Bar of Ontario in 1983.
Mr. Justice Dow had been a partner with Flaherty Dow Elliott & McCarthy since 1994 and was an associate with Gilbert Wright & Flaherty from 1983 to 1988, and partner from 1988 to 1994. While there, he practised insurance law, personal injury and motor vehicle litigation. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Medical Legal Society, The Advocates Society, the Metropolitan Toronto Law Association and the Durham Law Association.
Outside his working life Mr. Justice Dow is a long time supporter of the Brockville Bunnies Baseball team as well as the Brock University Golf team. As a member of the CBA/MLA The Advocates Society he has been a frequent speaker and panelist.
