Clarence Marshall (Inducted 2008)
Mr. Clarence Marshall is being honoured for his contributions to the telecommunications industry, both nationally and internationally, and for his commitment to improving the quality of life for the Brockville community.
After attending elementary school in Chesterville Ontario, Mr. Marshall graduated from Brockville Collegiate in 1942. He attended Queen’s University and graduated in 1946, with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
In 1947, Mr. Marshall joined the Telephone Engineering department of Phillips Electrical, (later Microtel Ltd.) where he advanced to Vice President of Marketing. In this role he traveled and worked throughout Canada, the Philippines, Israel, Japan and Belgium. In 1972, his expertise in telecommunications was recognized when he participated in Canada’s trade missions to Mexico and China. He retired in 1984.
Mr. Marshall’s community service began as a young man when he was a charter member of the Brockville Junior Chamber of Commerce. Since then he has served on the Brockville and District High School Board, the Brockville General Hospital Board and the Campaign for Care Committee which raised over $6M for the Brockville General and St. Vincent de Paul hospitals.
Mr. Marshall has two sons and currently resides in Brockville with his wife, Helen.
