Mr. Kevin Beatty graduated from BCI in 1995, and is being honoured for his achievements in amateur sports. Kevin began running in elementary school, then with the Brockville Legion Runners, coached by Bob Tucker, and continued with the cross country teams at Waterloo and Queen’s Universities.

From 2002 to 2005, Kevin focused on running marathons with a personal best time of 2:21:37 and a Silver Medal in the Canadian Marathon Championship.

In 2007, Kevin entered his first Olympic distance triathlon, finishing 24th in swim, 5th in bike, and 1st in run, for an overall first place. Kevin competed in the World’s Triathlon in Vancouver BC, in June 2008, where he placed first for Canada in his age group and third overall for the Bronze Medal. As a result, Kevin was recognized by Triathlon Canada as the 2008 Olympic Distance Age Group Athlete of the Year. Kevin is currently preparing for the 2010 Ironman Canada Triathlon.

Kevin comes from along line of BCI graduates including his parents David and Anne Beatty of Brockville, his siblings, Carolyn and Ian, and future graduate Christie. He is also the uncle of Trevor and Elyse Coffin. Kevin currently works as an Adult Education teacher in Belleville.
