David E. Beatty graduated from BCI in 1969, is a University of Western Ontario graduate and the recipient of an Honorary Diploma from St. Lawrence College. Dave married his BCI high school sweetheart Anne Christie and has three children who have all graduated from BCI.

When Dave joined the family business, Canarm Ltd. introduced overhead ceiling fans to the Canadian market as an energy-saving device, and he became an early and frequent visitor to the Far East, especially China. The Brockville and District Chamber of Commerce honoured Dave as Business Person of the Year in 2000 and, in 2002, Canarm was recognized as one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies.

Dave has been a tremendous community leader, not only volunteering his time, energy and talents, but also providing numerous financial contributions. He led the movement to keep the Y open in Brockville, served as President, and played a key role in integrating the new community pool at the expanded "Y" facilities. He is a long standing member of the Kiwanis Club, a distinguished past President and has been recognized as a Mel Osborne Fellow. As Governor and Chair of the Brockville General Hospital Board he helped negotiate rationalization of services between the BGH and St. Vincent de Paul Hospitals; recruited the leadership for fundraising to expand both hospital facilities, and is a Past Chair of the BGH Foundation and Chair of the Investment Committee.

Dave is Co-Chair of the Leeds and Grenville Economic Round Table and Chair of the St. Lawrence College Board of Governors where he oversaw a major expansion of the Kingston Campus and program renewal.
