The School

Brockville Collegiate provides a diverse program designed to meet the needs and aspirations of all students. Excellence in Academics, Arts & Athletics is expected and attained within our friendly, caring environment. This past year, almost one half of our graduating students earned Ontario Scholarships upon graduation. The school has ranked among the best in provincial testing, proving that our academic programs are of the highest calibre. The vast majority of our graduates pursue post-secondary studies at college or university.

The Arts are a major focus at Brockville Collegiate and continue to maintain a long tradition of excellence in our community. Our French Immersion program and Extended Core French involve approximately 125 students in grades 9 - 12. Business, mathematics, computers, science, liberal arts and communication programs have produced many graduates who have gone on to pursue careers in medicine, engineering, law, computer technology and business. BCI's athletic program enjoys high levels of success locally and provincially due to the commitment of our coaches and athletes.

The Students

Our students come from 9 public elementary schools, three separate elementary schools and one Christian school and represent a variety of ethno-cultural backgrounds. One of the major strengths of the school culture is the atmosphere of respect and friendliness amongst the students and staff. Another strength is the high level of student leadership and participation in many school activities including the Athletic Association, Student Council, Yearbook, Stage and Lighting Crew and the Arts Programs. The high levels of teacher involvement in the extra-curricular program contributes to an array of opportunities for students to grow and develop beyond the classroom experience. 90% of our student body pursue studies at the post-secondary level; in addition, they are committed to achieving high academic standards throughout their school career.

The Community

Brockville Collegiate's links with the community are strong and enhance the school culture. A number of partnerships provide opportunities for our students to develop work and good citizenship skills. Many of these partnerships are linked to the cooperative education program; each year 50 - 60 students are placed with employers in the community.

Another key school link is the School Community Advisory Council which provides support and input on an array of issues that help the school grow in positive and constructive ways.

Our students benefit from community participation and support in our band boosters club, football alumni group, and BCI alumni. These groups raise considerable amounts of money which contributes to the purchase of musical instruments, auditorium renovations and more than $30,000 annually in scholarships.

The school facilities are utilized every weeknight and many weekends and appreciated by many community groups. The auditorium and gymnasium are centres of activity for people of all ages and interests. Community groups benefit from the expertise, enthusiasm and service from students in the Student Council and the Stage and Lighting Crew. Our students are also involved in volunteering with community organizations and elementary schools.
