Grant and Joe Hudson were born, raised, went to school, lived and worked here all their lives. Together they developed a thriving business and have contributed generously to their community.

Burnbrae Farms, Lyn has been in the Hudson family for over 100 years, starting as a dairy farm in 1893. In 1943, Joe raised 50 laying hens as a poultry project for his Agriculture class at BCI, and from that small beginning, Grant and Joe created a successful nationwide business. While the home base remains in Lyn, since 1974 they expanded the business to include operations in Quebec, Toronto, and western Ontario prior to Grant's death from ALS in 1989. Since then, under Joe's direction, Burnbrae Farms now operates plants in Manitoba and Alberta, with their eggs and egg products delivered coast to coast. Currently markets for egg products are being developed in Europe and Asia.

Over the years Burnbrae and Joe have received many awards acknowledging their business success and product development. But of equal note is their commitment to their community. Grant and his wife Beryl, also a BCI grad, and Joe and his wife Mary, a former BCI teacher, were and remain tremendous supporters and volunteers in the Lyn and Brockville communities. Burnbrae and the Hudson family support the hospitals, YMCA, Christ United Church, Lyn Heritage Society, recreation programs and many other initiatives. The farm also responds quickly and generously with disaster relief in its business communities.

From a 1943 BCI school project to a leader in Canadian Agri-business in 2005!
